A Tale of Two Vigils.

One Vigil
Big turnout at vigil for police

A thousand people gathered to honor four officers murdered in cold blood by a murdering rapist, who didn't want to return to jail.

Another Vigil
Vigil held for accused murderer, gunned down by police

As mourners walked through the streets, they chanted, "OPD you can't hide, we charge you with genocide!" The cousin of the accused addressed the small crowd, calling him "a true hero, a soldier."

If you couldn't already tell, these vigils are for the same event.

I've been told independently by two Sheriffs that places like Oakland and Compton are full of good people, just trying to get by, and a small percentage who want to ruin it for everyone.

At least the Oakland community realizes that they need to gather to support the police. When you keep telling the police to stop doing things, eventually, they do. These people realize that they need the police to keep violence from exploding.

It's the first step toward social change in that community.

You couldn't pay me to drive through Oakland. Hopefully, one day in the future, that will no longer be the case.

I avoid Oakland and the East Bay completely. I drive around it by any road available - which is too bad because Alameda has a great fleet of sailboats.
I also can hardly understand a friend's insistence on living in El Cerrito, just a couple blocks from Richmond - but it's because his kid is nearby. We seldom see each other anymore.
The culture throughout is suffused and dominated by the worst kind of Leftist, welfare, identity-politic victim-entitlement mentality - across the entire race/color spectrum. Yellow, brown, black and white it's mostly University derived, vested propaganda holders.
