I'm taking a new shooter out today, will be taking the 91/30 out. If she decides to shoot it, I'll get video, just to add to the pool. :)
ZOMG! It broked my shoulder!!1!
I'm the proud own of a (currently unshootable) Mosin Nagant 91/30. Before it decided to extract a small chunk of the barrel along with a spent case, I put a few hundred rounds through it. It shot well enough. But even I thought the recoil was a bit much.
Until I watched a female friend a third my size put 10 rounds into the 9 ring, offhand. She then turned to me and grinned saying "wow, that's fun!"
So, uh, it turns out that recoil is largely subjective and I was just being a wussy.
It's all about finding the right spot in your shoulder, the right pressure to hold it with, and the body position.
It's different for everybody.
