We got into an minor debate at work, and my opponent opined that the founding fathers were simply rich white guys who stood to make money from a war because wars always bring money.
He is misguided on a few points, but this was totally off.

I can't watch the video but here is a link summarizing the fates of the Founders. I keep in handy for anyone who would dare state that the "rich old white guys" were in it for the money.
They paid. Dearly.
I correct myself. My link, although good reading, is mostly urban myth. I was wrong.
