He got shot clean through the chest with an arrow in the final episode, and the band wasn't doing anything to help him get to a hospital; he's clearly dead.
You're probably right.
I mean; it's not like other less important characters have died in much more horrible ways only to return later with robotic eyes, mechanical limbs, or sewn back together wrong...
