Welcome back to NetHack!--More--
You feel a change come over you. --More--
You feel like a new woman! --More--
That's right, I'm playing graphical Nethack. It's nothing new, but I just resisted playing it. I'm still spending too much time identifying things since I don't know what the pictures mean.
This is what that picture should look like, in all its ASCII glory.
Lets see how this works out.
Ya dern kids with yer... graphical user interfaces! Why, in MY day...

Heh. "In my day"
I'm 24.
Still playing nethack? I DID previously tell you about the great new invention/game named 'pong', right?
Eh, it's immaterial anyway. Technology has marched on. You should check out the newest thing. It's still under wraps so I can't offer you any images, but apparently there is a new game where you are in a spaceship! Unfortunately, you are stuck in an asteroid field, but the good news is that you can blow them up with a weapon you have in your nosecone! If they are too big you won't blow them up, but instead split them in two, I think. The info I'm receiving is sketchy.
There are also aliens, I'm told. I know, it sounds too good to be true. Who knows. It may just be vaporware. Still, we can hope!
OMG. You're not going to believe this one. There is a new game in the works where you fight aliens invading from space!
Again, I don't have the specifics, but apparently you fight aliens from a ship that looks like a smushed Hershey's kiss. And get this: There are bunkers you can hide behind!
Makes nethack seem kind of lame in comparison, huh.
I also heard through the grapevine that there are even MORE advanced video games out there, but it's hard to say whether the reports are accurate. One operative said that there is a group working on a game where an Italian beats up a giant gorilla! Sounds pretty far-fetched to me, but you never know.
"Space Invaders" released 1978.
"Asteroids" released 1979.
"Donkey Kong" released 1981.
"NetHack" released 1985, latest version released 2003; still in development...
